We’re getting the band back together for a special evening in which we remember Ivars Galenieks; Norwich Jazz Club’s resident bass player for many years and cornerstone of our open mic / jazz jams, but who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Originally from Latvia, Ivars moved to Norwich and built a busy life for himself as a piano tuner / restorer and working musician, performing frequently as an orchestral as well as jazz bass player. He seemed to be everywhere!

Whether you remember him for tuning your piano, his formidable presence in the string section, the way he sang along with his bass solos on jazz gigs, or just for his terrifyingly firm handshakes (!) please join us this evening - to jam or just to watch - as we celebrate the life of an irreplaceable member of our musical community.
