FOLK AT YALM presents Dan Walsh
Monthly folk night for Norwich. An informal evening of food, drink and vibes for the folk music lover...
BBC Folk Awards Best Musician nominee Dan Walsh combines ‘virtuoso playing and winning songwriting’ (MORNING STAR). Describing what Dan does is no easy task but at the heart of it is British, Irish and American folk music delivered with a healthy dose of funky grooves – all performed with his unique and dazzling take on clawhammer style banjo helping to challenge all preconceptions about the instrument. Add to all that poignant songs, astonishing musical departures and lively humour and the result is a truly memorable live show which has wowed audiences across the world from intimate seated rooms to huge dancing crowds in festival fields.
"One of the most incredible musicians I’ve heard in years." Bruce MacGregor, BBC Radio Scotland
"If one name is synonymous with the revival of interest in the banjo, it’s Dan Walsh." Living Tradition
"A real world class banjo player." Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6
"Absolutely terrific." Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2
"The real deal, a demon picker." Uncut
"His banjo playing is second to none in the UK and he’d put many to shame in the US too." R2
"Matches up virtuoso playing with winning songwriting." Morning Star
"This artist is an inspiration." Maverick
"Eclectically inspired and consistently brilliant." Froots
"One of the banjo’s true innovators." Banjo Newsletter

FOLK AT YALM presents Good Habits
Monthly folk night for Norwich. An informal evening of food, drink and vibes for the folk music lover...
Don’t miss an exclusive evening with GOOD HABITS, as they take the stage at Yalm Food Hall as part of the new FOLK AT YALM event series.
One of the most exciting new indie-folk duos to come out of the UK, Good Habits’ award winning, genre-fusion has received international critical acclaim in the short 5 years they have been performing, with performances at Glastonbury and WOMAD; tours throughout Europe and Australasia; and a Top 40 album.
Composed of Bonnie Schwarz (cello + vocals) and Pete Shaw (accordion), the pair mix virtuosic musicianship and vocal harmony with vivid storytelling, drawing on their diverse musical tastes and weaving them into an action-packed narrative of folky goodness. After a pandemic spent happily stranded in New Zealand, they arrived back in the UK in 2022 to spread their joyous music throughout Europe.
To their delight, it was a jam-packed calendar of performances, tours and musical collaborations including performances at some of the UK’s most established folk festivals and involvement in projects including Global Music Match and more.
